Misty View Cottages has been recognised as a finalist in the Accommodation category for Sunshine Coast Business Awards - Business of the year. We are honoured and delighted that all of our passion, hard work and investment has been recognised.
I own Misty View Cottages Montville along with my husband Tony who chooses to stay in the background. He is responsible for all of our Research and Development along with being the maintenance man extraordinaire. I deal with the guests on a day to day basis along with all the administration and I am the purveyor of all the fine foods we create onsite for our guests to enjoy.
Tony and I grew up very rurally on large scale cattle properties in north and central Queensland prior to moving to Montville. This has made us extremely self-sufficient and able to think outside the box. It has also ensured we are not afraid of hard work and commitment both of which are required to make mmvc the success it is today.

Simple. The privacy our guests are provided and the food that we make for them to enjoy.
Misty View Cottages offers secluded rainforest hideaways for couples wanting to disconnect from the world, experience, peace tranquillity and privacy so they can reconnect with nature and each other. All cottages offer a beautiful vista of Lake Baroon, and are positioned to ensure maximum privacy. You cannot see another cottage from yours and you cannot see us or us you from the main residence. If nude is your thing – go for it!
As business owners we continually monitor our impact on the environment and measure what we can implement and preserve for future generations. We strongly believe that it is imperative we develop and maintain our piece of paradise in the best possible condition for future generations to enjoy.
How we do it.
Food is our love language and we are well known for our locally sourced and handmade bread, pastries, jam, chutneys, butter and yoghurt showcasing the flavours of our regions for all to enjoy.
Misty View Cottages performs well because we love it and we want to share it with our guests. With encouragement guests can be environmental end ecological without them even realising it. We educate on recycling and reforestation in subtle ways during check in. Ensuring guests understand that water is not a finite resource and to use responsibly while still enjoying our facilities is what we do in a gentle and encouraging way. Some of our fruit and veg may look like it belongs on the ‘uglies’ counter at woollies but the flavour is out of this world.
Specifically chosen individualised interior designs in each cottage along with two cottages boasting either a heated plunge pool or outdoor swim spa coupled with the fact you cannot see another soul from your cottage this is the luxury we speak of. An extraordinary amount of time is taken to bake the bread, make the jam and yoghurt and source what we cannot grow onsite in our food forest. Which by the way was the first thing we did when we moved to MVC. This allows us to cater for individual guests dietary requirements at all times.
Results
As you can see our results speak for themselves. Each guest is provided with a guest feed back sheet to fill in if they so choose which allows us to enhance any further guests experiences and ensure our repairs and maintenance are up to speed and fixed just as fast! This small business has tripled in revenue since our purchased in June 2019 and supports us as a family of 6.
Our Why?
Practice what we preach - that is our mantra. We believe Misty View Cottages and the surrounding 18 acres will be left in an even better environmental than when we purchased it in 2019. As well as being a highly successful business that contributes to local and wider community. We want every guest to leave feeling like they have received the best experience possible while staying with us. I always say, I am yet to say no to a guest request!
We are big believers in promoting not just our business but all that there is to see and do in our area. All products used in the cottage are for sale in reception or included in the compendium on where to buy. They may be staying with us but they are here for the hinterland and the Sunshine Coast.Our legacy will be to have provided a transformational experience for our guests that will forever connect them with the sunshine coast.
